ODDITIES of SUSSEX
The Toll House - Ashcombe
It looks rather like an Igloo, but this is one of a pair of tollhouses
which once sat on either side of the Lewes-Brighton road. The other
was demolished for road widening.
The building, dating from about 1810, was too small to ever have been
lived in.
Access
By the A27 just west of Lewes on the south side.
